Ms. Aline Hunter is one of my very favorite...and with this she delivered another awesome work. Yes it was short but it was clear from the get go, "Quickies" mean exactly that. Can't wait for the continuation!!!!

Diane has been going to group therapy for nearly 2 years, since her husband was killed in a robbery. She knows she needs to stop going and get on with her life but she can't seem to find the strength. Zeke, one of the other members asks her for coffee. It turns out his wife isn't dead but she's in a coma, brain dead with no chance of waking. He offers to help her move on, one night, no strings, but can she do it?
For such a short read Aline Hunter has developed an engaging plot with interesting characters that will have the reader begging for more.
Just like it says it's a quickie and I for you enjoyed it. I really felt for the characters in this story because they have lost loved ones and are having a hard time moving on. Zeke however feels that Diane needs a little something to get her in the right mindset to try to live her life and straight out lets her know what he thinks she needs. Yeah I think you know what I'm talking about. He doesn't hold back and I love a dirty talker. Diane is a little shocked at first but once she realizes that this is what she needs, she really begins to enjoy herself.
Aline Hunter does a great job of conveying the characters emotions into words. I was very satisfied with the storyline at the conclusion of this story and felt that the characters had reached the same type of conclusion with their lives.
No Strings is a short read, about thirty pages, but was it hot and sexy. And more than that, it had so much feeling and emotion behind it. For such a short read, I became really invested in this couple. Zeke and Diane are two lost souls, striving to recover from the loss of a loved one, just two people hurting and in need of love and comfort. And while I liked Diane very much, Zeke was the one who demanded all my attention and the one I fell in love with.
Zeke is that tatted, rough around the edges bad boy that gets me every time. His dirty talk and rough exterior mask a very vulnerable man so full of longing and hurt. Along with the incredibly hot sex and that take control attitude in the bedroom, it is Zeke's vulnerability that pulls me in, and it is what haunts me. He is just so unhappy, living this life of limbo, with bitterness and resentment as companions. Then along comes Diane, and he takes this one chance to feel alive and to feel connected to something besides pain.
I was expecting to read a quick bite of erotica and to get hot and bothered by it, but I wasn't expecting to meet one unforgettable hero. I only hope the author gives Zeke a longer story. Zeke deserves one, and I personally feel that he requires it. There is so much more here to explore with this special hero- his story, his torment, the decisions he will have to make.
There is a certain bittersweetness at the ending of this short, but given the very solid connection these two characters made, I feel there is a real hope for them. I really want that for them, and I especially want a devoted love for Zeke, a love that makes him whole. I actually can't get him off my mind. I'm wondering what will happen to him, wondering what his story will be after that final page.
What a man Zeke is. Like a diamond in the rough, very much flawed and gritty and unpolished but still intrinsically beautiful and special. I loved this short story and this hero. Both are completely hot, sexy and raw with emotion and feeling. I warn you that after you've read this story, you'll be left thinking of Zeke, wanting to know more about him, and wanting him to have the happiness he deserves.
I loved it even for a quick read. Definitely left room for a second book. Diane and Zeke are just made for each other.
I enjoyed the story. Very romantic but extremely short and very bitter sweet. Wanted more of HEA, didn't get it.
I read this in one sitting. Hot, fast-paced, emotionally engaging (no small feat given that this is a short novella, which speaks to Ms. Hunter's tremendous abilities as a writer), with a bittersweet ending that left me very, very grateful the author has said she'd like to revisit the characters in a longer work.
Aline Hunter can weave more emotion and connection between characters in 9K words than most writers can manage in a full length novel. I'm in awe of her skill and absolutely loved this story.
This is a very good short story. Aline Hunter gives us a very tantalizing tease of Zeke and Diane' s story. A full length novel is on the way. Very recommended. Happy reading!
